Daniel Coleman
Managing Principal

Dan Coleman is a founding principal of T & C Associates, a Boston based investment banking firm that assists middle market companies in evaluating, structuring and funding acquisitions.

As the former managing director of Private Equity for Fleet Development Ventures, Dan Coleman was responsible for the establishment, development and management of a successful and profitable $100 + million national private equity fund that targeted ventures impacting low- moderate income communities.

In addition to investing directly in numerous companies of varying industries and stages of development, he also directed equity investments in middle market private equity funds that had total managed private equity assets exceeding $14 billion. He served on the boards of numerous invested companies and on the advisory committees of several private funds including the 21st Century Fund of Hicks, Muse, Furst and Tate. Additionally, he was a member of the executive management committee of the $3.6 billion Banc Boston Capital private equity fund.

Prior to leading Fleet Development Ventures, Coleman developed Fleet/Bank Boston products focusing on small businesses and real estate projects needing semi-equity capital. Before joining Fleet, Coleman served in a variety of senior positions with BayBank and Bank of Boston, where he was Vice President of the Large Middle Market/Asset-Based Lending Group, responsible for a $70-million national loan portfolio of middle market companies with sales of $50-$250 million. At BayBanks he established and directed a unit responsible for the restructuring and recovery of troubled small business loans in Massachusetts.

He is a founding board member of the Small Business Investment Alliance (SBIA) that represents investors such as the Bank of America, Banc One, Citibank, Fleet, JP Morgan - Chase, and Merrill Lynch in evaluating alternative private equity investments. He has also served on the board of directors and the approval committee of LEAF, a national organization that makes semi-equity investments in companies that deliver on dual bottom line initiatives. Recently, he was elected to the Alumni Council of Tufts University.

Dan Coleman is a graduate of Tufts University, the Greater Boston Executive Management Program at the Sloan School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Phillips Academy - Andover.
